In this body of work, I have undertaken an interdisciplinary approach that considers photography’s relation to other mediums, in particular sculpture and painting. This work is an exploration of photography’s potential as a medium to be used in a constructive sense, underpinned by critical notions of how we ontologically define the medium and influenced by contemporary dialogues on the development of photography. Stylistically, the work continues a dialogue about space, form and colour in terms of the historic context of works perceived as ‘abstract’.
The work emphasises the readymade and reproductive nature of the photographic image, through the usage of everyday subject matter. The work is very much about the spatial relationships between the objects and how they interact with each other whilst confined in the photographic frame.
